Welcome Message from the Chair |
|
Engineering Science at the University of Toronto is among the world’s top
undergraduate engineering programs.
Our vision is to be a premier innovator in engineering education. Our graduates will have the knowledge, skills, vision, and judgment to be leaders among global citizens and among their generation of engineers.
Our mission is:
» to attract top students from across Canada and around the world, and to contribute vigorously to their development as responsible global citizens, future leaders of society, and leading practitioners of the engineering sciences;
» to offer cutting edge curricula and to incorporate the best innovative pedagogical methods in our delivery; and
» to provide our students with exceptional research and professional experience opportunities, support and guide them in their extracurricular pursuits, and challenge them to be proactive learners, deep thinkers, and responsible citizens.
We seek to develop the
best traits of engineers and scientists in our students. We cultivate
the curiosity, depth of critical thinking and powers of observation
that scientists exploit to make new discoveries, as well as the
creativity, technical capability, and problem solving skills that
engineers use to bring discoveries to pragmatic reality for the benefit
of society. We accomplish these goals through a curriculum design that
focuses on fundamentals, emphasizes interdisciplinary linkages, and
features both breadth and depth through two years of broad foundation
courses and a choice of several Options in 3rd and 4th year.
This
is a unique program with a special community of superb students, world
class faculty, and dedicated staff. I hope you get a sense of the
excitement and energy here as you browse our web site. Thank you for
your interest.
